Mulching/recycling lawn mowers .............
2 Answers
I have arthritis in my hands and find compost making too difficult now. As I need to buy a replacement ride-on lawn mower I was thinking of buying a mulching one to eradicate the problem with the clippings. Has anyone any experience of this type of mower? What are your thoughts? There are so many different makes now it is difficult to choose a "good" one at a reasonable price.I have 3/4 acre lawn to cut. I have heard via the grapevine that one has to change blades if the grass is too long and collect the clippings and that one has to cut the lawn at least twice a week if mulching. Do the clippings really fertilize the lawn? ..........

Used weekly they will hide the cuttings, even used fortnightly the areas look neater than say a conventional rotary with no box. Dont expect a super sward with nice stripes, but with 3/4 of an acre I would think you are just looking for 'neat and tidy'.
Hi. Thanks for your answer. As you say, with 3/4 acre it will at least save some time (and also wear and tear on my hands). Will give it a go and hopefully changing the blades (if need be) won't be too difficult. With the weather this week there has been no chance of mowing at all so would have to use mow and collect. Thanks again.
