Just a quick bit of advice, seeing as I seem to be having problems with the old phone. My toddler appears to have a chest infection, his temperature is raging and he's very bubbly on his chest. When he coughs he is bringing up so much gunk he is choking and vomiting. Should I Wait till monday or get some antibiotics for him tomorrow, via the emergency doctors!

Im never really sure as to what constitutes an emergency!

Have you given him anything like Calpol yet?
Question Author
yep, hes been having the calpol and ibuprofen and his temp is still at 103.
DON'T wait hun.....you don't want him to choke in his sleep.....better a fussy mum anytime!!
IWell if that hasn't done anything then I would call the 24 hour doc (providing you have one in your area) or A&E right away.
i would phone for a doctor........meanwhile sponge him down with tepid water it will help reduce the high temperature.
go by your gut feeling goodsoulette. Strip him down to his basics and keep him cool. Bath him with a cool flannel. And Ring NHS direct if you are really concerned
please make sure you use tepid water not cold water
you sound like my ideal nurse babybow
you after a bed bath ziggy lol
Hope it's not a bed PAN.......
And sorry, goodsoulette - but I'd also get an emergency doctor in, because for a child to have such a high temperature, the poor little thing must feel terrible. Put a coll damp flannel on his head, loosen all clothing, and have a word with someone. Hope everything's alright. x

Ive phoned them, they say they will see him first thing and to keep doing what I am doing and just to take him straight away if his temperature rises or he struggles to breath, outside of a coughing fit.

He seems comfortable downstairs, so a night on the sofa for us both, I think. Ive left him in just his pants since he got ill. This just came on so suddeny, he was being a little bu88er this afternoon.

Thanks for the advice guys x
Let us know how he is doing tomorrow Goods xxx
Indeed - it's awful when little ones get in that state, but i think we've all been there. Hopefully, he'll be fine. My own youngest had a high temp and a headache today, and was feeling very uncomfortable, so it's even worse for a baby. Just keep him lightly covered over, Goods, because it'll get cooler as the night wears on. x
Just read this, and hope your little boy is feeling much better today.

hope little one is feeling better today and has cooled down.

if find that calpol and ibruprofen taken at alternate times keeps the temp on an even level. you can give every 3 hours then.

also, if he is chesty then slightly raise the end of his bed if you can. avoid giving him milk or dairy as this can increase the mucus.

hoping the doc has been now and things are improving x

Took him this morning and they said there was nothing wrong with him. TOok him back this afternoon because he went downhill, but of course I dithered after being told he was fine and the other doctor disagreed and said he had croup. Which of course makes sense with it getting worse at night.
