I think the building could be the library at Alexandria
i agree with you.can't find the picture in the paper but the walls depicted in google images are very similar.
it is the bibliothecha alexandrina in alexandria. you can find the picture under either alexandria or modern museums in corbis.

Well done - someone who takes the time (as I did) to find the answer after being given the clue to the site.

Johndee and others - I did point out all the obvious clues i.e. the Corbis bit was already given to us by the Sunday Times, after that it was just a matter of browsing the images.  I could have handed out the answer, but half the fun in these is te detective work!  Happy New Year to one & all.

I actually found the answer by searching a ' backwards capital E'
