Hiya all, i'm currently off sick from work with a fractured bone in my foot. Although i want to go back to work, are there any rules / regulations, that would prevent me.(am i insured?) I'm currently in the middle of a 5 weeks GP's sick note.

You may be insured, but you can bet they won't pay up if you are disregarding your doctor's advice and you either have an accident or worsen your condition.

Are you self employed? If so, the risk is your own.

If you are employed - speak to your boss. They may have concerns about hindering your full recovery or you being liable to further injury through accident. They will not want to put themselves in a situation in which you could sue them.
You certainly cannot return to work whilst you are covered by a sick note. Your employer would be breaking employment laws if he let you work and, as Ethel said they would not be insured if anything happened to you and could be sued by you.

Could you not see your doctor and discuss the issue with him and whether he feels you are able to return.
you can get a fit to work certificate from your gp, which will rescind the sick note. You/your employer will have to pay for this
