computer doesn't shut down
been trying to help my mum today through live assistance and cleared (i hope) any issues she had. but she says her computer doesn't shut down and she has to switch it off at the plug every time. i dont know what causes this. can anyone tell me what i can do to try and fix the problem for her?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I have the same problem on one PC running XP home, but when I use Ubuntu/knoppix on that machine, it does switch off properly. The other PC running XP pro, does turn off though, so my guess is that it's something in XP home which is causing the problem. I got fed up with trying to find a solution and got into the habit of switching the machine off at the mains.
