business speaker?
2 Answers
hi,
this a question on behalf of my dad who has recently retired from estate agency, he has 30 years of experience in a very turbulant business environment. He started off thirty years ago as a charted surveyor and worked himself up to a director of a very large estate agents with many employees under his control.
Anyway, to the question, he is looking at coming out of retirement just for a few days a week, as it is not for him but was wandering would many business training enterprises pay for his expertise and knowledge, to stand infront of people and explain basics of business strategy, like a lecturer but in the private sector?
Thanks very much for your time and i appreciate any replys

As always in this situation, it is a question of being known about, and having a proposition to offer such organisations.
Whether there is a market for basic 'business strategy' from this type of speaker, I doubt, because this is core to many training organisations offerings. What is more likely is that such organisations engage guest speakers to provide 'practical insight' and 'case study' type presentations to supplement the core topics of training / learning.
The best way forward would be to approach training organisations directly by phoning around. Seeing as he's been involved in selling, I'm sure this would be straightforward for him.

He is obviously bored with retirement....with his expertise he could open his own agency and create more jobs for others.
Somebody gave him a chance now its his turn to do the same for others.
As a back-to-work ritiree I know how soul-destroying it can be....great for this site though.....If people depend on you, you will rise each morning. There's always voluntary work too.
I believe in creating employment as there are so many begging for work!
