There's an icon in the bottom left corner, when you have furniture you are not using, you can click on that and sell it...

It's easy peasy lemon squeeeeeeeeeezzie.

Go to your apartment, scroll down underneath the apartment to where you have the speech bar and the dance options, next to them (on the left) is a button. Click on that and you'll find it's your inventory, click on an item and you have the option to sell that item. It even tells you which items are in use.
