So sme66ing big brother is back. It was amusing briefly, when it started, now they've just done it to death. What a bunch of over Ego'd misfits. The producers are getting ever more desparate for ratings they'll no doubt be having live s3x on the Telly. Should they stop flogging this dead horse??

yes
i have never watched it
I watched the first episode of the first series and have never watched it since.

I don't buy papers or magazines and am largely able to ignore it.

People must watch it though - otherwise it would be dropped.

Each to their own I suppose.
I dont watch it
big brother 2 was great ..really enjoyed . not now its been on to long its rubbish now ..
It keeps going because people with no lives of their own feel the need to watch others. The obscene amounts of money made from the telephone lines will keep it going for many many more years.
Because it makes a crapload of money. Because people like it.

The first time I actually watched was in 2004, and I confess to actually enjoying it at the time. But then after that I rapidly lost interest, largely because they seem to like taking in the most dull and uninteresting people they could find.

Still, nobody's forcing us to watch it. So luckily all we have to do is try to ignore the advertising, switch off of Ch. 4 for the next 90-odd days. Plus AB's got a nice Reality TV section so we'll be left in (relative) peace.
Big Brother is something you grow out of.

Each series looks more and more desperate. However, its audience tends to be young people, and the advertisers love that demographic, so it will run and run forever.

Unfortunately.
Sorry, to answer the original question:

Should they stop flogging this dead horse??

I would shed no tears if they did. In fact I'd be quite happy. But people do seem to like it and so there's no logical reason why they should, really.
Bring back the old late Saturday night show on channel 4, where the interesting guests were plied with booze and snacks and allowed to talk about anything that cropped up.
Don't care whether it goes or stays. I just totally ignore it. Mind you I ignore anything that involves the awful shouting Davina McCall.

That was great Theland, is that the one where Olly Reid turned up Pi55ed and tried to snog some feminist? bl00dy hilarious! I think it was called "after Dark", mostly a load of boring beardy weirdies talking about lentils but occasional Gems!
Wasn't that the one that Oliver Reed got pi55ed up on and started slagging off the other guests? Top telly!
Sorry geezer, didn't read your full reply.
A couple of years ago, I read that Big Brother & Celebrity Big Brother (and their spin-off shows on C4 and E4 plus online content) accounted for almost a quarter of Channel 4's entire annual revenue.

Don't expect it to go away.
A lot of people watch it because desperate humans make them laugh.
Others watch because it makes them feel better about themselves.
Others watch because.... well who knows.
I don't watch it. It just dosn't interest me.

Oh, I usually watch the launch (or at least part of it) just on the off chance that there'll be interesting people. Sadly, there never are.

IMHO, they should never have started with this particular horse. Loathe it with a passion.
