In hand luggage: Could cause problems. The bra would have to be in your (very small) clear plastic bag and you'd have to convince the security staff that it didn't contain more than 100ml of liquid/gel:

They could know simply because they might frisk you.
I did a day trip to Italy, from Stansted, with a friend who's in her 70s. I got through security OK, but she was asked to step to one side so that she could be frisked by a (female) member of the security team. Such (random) searches are quite common.
