hope this is the right section.while driving through southern spain on the eve of 1st june we saw loads of firework displays. any idea what they were celebrating ?
I have a home in rural Spain and they do have fiestas on days we would deem insignifecent,
However being a deeply religious country I woud suspect it was a religious festival -these can happen on a Wednesday -no such thing as a bank holiday Monday there. We have witnessed the most marvellous displays in the few years we have been out there (not permanently) -just had a look and I would hazard it was a religious celebration -can I ask where you were -were in S/E Spain -Costa Calida -Murcia region.
O thats our area -we are on the Mar Menor -fantastic place -thats why we bought there.
Glad you enjoyed it -each village has their own fiestas -throughout the year -the Spaniards know how to have a good time -we went out to our villages last September and it was week of 24/7 partying -fireworks all night but brilliant -exhausting tho !!
sorry for the big gap, had to go and call the bingo. we are thinking/trying to go back 1st week in sept so if you are in the area nice to meet up.....but we are drinkers! . not excatly brits abroard but we do like to party but respect that we are the forerginers in their country. (scuse spelling, have been the pub.
