Old comic cartoon - can anyone help?

I saw this queried on another site and it is doing my brain in cos I know I know it. Anyway, as AB hasn't got a nostalgia section, I figured I'd post where there is a lot of traffic.
The post on the other site concerns a cartoon that appeared probably late sixties/seventies. This is the posting: - The story revolved around a kid on Earth who was friends with a pair of alien twins. - The twins looked human, but wore red jumpsuits with gold (or black?) collars that extended up to cover their neck and also formed a wide circle to their shoulders and part of the way down their back/chest. - One was blonde, the other had black hair. - They had a red(?) landspeeder-like "space car" that could travel in space/time. - When they wanted to travel any distance on Earth, they'd do a high-orbit "hop" move - i.e. fly upward then back down in an arc. - The kid would join them on adventures. At one point I think the twins' father disappeared/was kidnapped and they rescued him.
I seem to remember a story where the town was flooded, and they used loads of mini suns to dry the place out.
Does any of this ring any bells with anyone, and more to the point, have you got a name for the strip?
