Since last night, some of my Sky channels have been freezing or stuttering and some indicate no satellite signal being received. Anyone else experiencing this? as I thought it may be due to atmospherics. If not, it must be some other problem.

Don't have sky but used to. sounds like a problem with the dish, which can be anything from loose connections, not aligned properly or bird poo.
we experience those problems when it is raining heavily......

Thanks for the replies guys. Both answers were good, especially the one about stormy weather. However, I have been out to the garden and found the culprit to be some overhanging dense tree foliage interfering with the dishes site to the satellite. This has been dealt with and TV pictures back to the norm.
