Skimmed Milk - Soya Milk
I have always enjoyed drinking freezing cold 'skimmed' milk, but just lately have started getting an upset stomach after drinking it. Does anyone know which brand of Soya milk is the equivalant in taste to skimmed milk please?

My friend drinks it as she is allergic to all dairy - and even she almost gags as she drinks it. In my opinion soya milk is horrible, buy a small carton first to taste it rather than buying a big container.
However I'm sure someone will come on here after me and tell me they love it!
I like Soya milk, it's got a kind of coconutty or vanillaish taste which I like. The Marks and Spencer, Alpro and another one which I can't remember the name of (!) are very sweet which makes tea and coffee taste funny. I personally think it is nice to drink on its own, although it does have an almost chalky kind of texture. The only place I have found unsweetened soya milk is Tesco's own brand, and I wouldn't drink that on it's own although it's good in tea/ coffee as it is unsweetened. In conclusion, I have not tasted any soya milk that tastes like cows milk.
Why would changing to soya milk make a difference anyway? It is more likely, I'd have thought, that it is the temperature of the milk, rather than the milk itself. If the lactose was making your tummy upset then you would also notice a difference when eating most dairy products.
Well FINA, what a brilliant idea. I used to keep a tin of that in the cupboard in case of emergencies, but I haven't used it for donkeys years!
I'd given up drinking milk for a few days to see how it went & I was fine. Then before I went to bed, I drank a glass of preferred 'cold' skimmed milk & was up in the middle of the night with stomach pains again. It doesn't happen if I drink really cold squashes, so it must be the milk. I shall give both soya & Marvel a try. Thank you all.
