trace mobile number to person

I have a mobile number but I need to know the name of the person who owns it - it is a virgin network mobile.

Dont want to go too much into but there is no way I can ring it and speak to the person, its another woman, one that is involved with my fiance! He will find out if I ring it... I cant explain why i cant confront yet, I just need to know if I can find a free website that can do this sort of thing?

The short answer is NO, Virgin will not divuldge and if its a pay as you go phone its almost impossible.

I was in a simialar situation a few years ago and needed details of a numbers owner, so I was devious and rang witholding my own and claimed I was doing market research in which for answering a few questions they will receiveve vouchers for a free meal. I aked a few questions like what papers/magazines they read, do they play the lottery etc. They gave me their name and addy at the end so I could send them their vouchers.

If its just a name you want then call and say Whos That? they may say "........" Whos That?

Unfortunately it is nearly impossible to get that kind of information except by the above ruse to get information by tricking them in to divulging their name

 

The only way to get details of a mobile phone's owner is to be in the possesion of the phone and to call the customer services line, this is difficult as you need to know who the phone is registered to so back to square one..

 

telecoms companies will not divulge information about their clients as it is against the Data protection act.

 

The only way to get a name from a mobile number is in a Police investigation, where they would be able to get that kind of information, but if the phone is pay as you go..no chance unless they pay by credit card.

 

Have you checked his mobile phone's address book, and message store for names?

Thanks for the answers - I wasnt counting on there being an easy way.
Its very difficult to get the phone, its a new one so not sure of how to do things quick (frightened of beeps going off etc) and he NEVER leaves it out, if he does, he is around. He even got up after being in bed and said he needed a drink as an excuse because he left the phone on the table... i got up and turned around to do something to see if he would quickly grab it, and he did... he hides the bills - i asked him before and he calls me paranoid and a row starts and I cant be doing with all that, I need to be sure. Last week he had a query with a bill and I tried to sort it, however, he only showed me the total bill and cost breakdowns, when i said pages were missing he bought them over (the itemised pages - I was testing him) but he wouldnt let me hold them, he tries to pass it off and be cool and said they dont tell me anything..., then they were folded up and hidden away again! 

So I cant really go through his phone unless he goes out for the day and leaves it... but cant see that happening! Cant enlist the help of a male bloke to phone this woman as I will have to tell them why and I dont want the embarrassment of it all. And I cant trace the number.

Phoning this woman is a bit off putting even if when she answers I say who's that, because if someone did it to me I would say "you're ringing me, you tell me who you are"... The marketing questionnaire sounds great but will someone really give their details, especially with all the hype about not giving details out over the phone etc... unless I say Im from Virgin... now there's a thought! but I do get tongue tied ... and what questions is she likely to ask!?

Due to data protection act if a network does have the name of this person that owns the phone.They are not allowed to give that info out.
