dvd rom drive

when i insert a cd or dvd into my drive,nothing happens and the disc is not recognised. any suggestions?
it is a packard bell using windows vista. please help

if you select my computer on the start menu does the drive show in there under removable media ?

Hi PDW 1964, I have a Packard Bell PC also and I have the same problem, In answer to Chuck I have done as he asked and CD Drive (E) DVD Rom is shown. What`ll I do now Chuck? I hope this helps PDW also as it`s his/her post.

What it basically came down to was try cleaning the drive lens, if your's is a desktop computer then you will need to get a lens cleaning disk such as one below.
