I am thinking of getting a pair of Degu's, all of the sites and book that i have read have said that they are sociable animals.

Does anyone have experience of them??? Exactly how much looking after do they need, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hey,

When I was a college we had some Degus, and they are lovely little things, but we always had to wear thick gardening gloves when handling them, as when they bite, they bite hard and dont like to let go apparently!
I never had to find out myself, but that is the one thing that has put me off getting any!

Hi, I have 4 Degu's....and they are lovely friendly little creatures. It can take time to build their confidence to be handled...and take care.....they're bluddy fast! They very rarely bite...never been bitten in three years, they're more likely to nibble your nails....their way of getting to know you.
Please remember....
They are pre-disposed to diabetes...and must have NO sugar in their diet.
They must be housed in groups [same sex]....a single Gu will not thrive.
