touch lamps

you know those lamps that you touch and they anything else like a book other metal etc. the only other thing I found they turn on with is if you touch them with certain fruit. How do they work?

Well gents, I tried to turn the lamp on with various objects last night an the only thing that worked was:

- Me (obviously)
- An apple
- A small cardboard box but ONLY if I held it between my fingers, I tried holding it with just the tips of my nails and it didn't work!
- A bag of grated mozzarella cheese

Things that didn't work:

- A hairbrush
- A pink of milk
- My phone (my hand must have brushed it before)
- A magazine

Was the small cardboard box the shiny variety or plain cardboard

Was you pink(sic) of milk in a bottle (plastic or glass?) or a carton?

which magazine? and more important was it already to hand in the bedroom
