I've just seen something that was rather cute, but don't know what it was.
It's a moth of some sort, it has white wings, which were closed but not just laying down its back, they looked like they were sealed together. The upper half of its body was poking out and is yellow and furry and it has orange legs.
Yep, it's lovely. Would be even nicer if it were a paid job. But at my great age and after having worked hard all my life, I decided to do something I really wanted to do. Seriously though, I am meeting some fabulous people and learning a lot. Met a lot of the Springwatch people, cameramen etc!
I'm really envious here, I would give anything to work with animals, but I'm not qualified in anything other than caring for them on a human level and that's not going to pay the bills!
I work in the Visitors Centre, so I don't get out and about on the reserve much, although I might be trained to lead guided walks in the future. I don't know nearly enough yet. I have to bluff my way quite a lot.
I did get to handle a kestrel on Saturday. It was so amazing.
Oh yes. I have handled one before when it landed exhausted in our garden and we transported it to the
RSPCA wildlife centre.
This one six weeks old and has just learned to fly. He is going to be trained to fly to hand and to educate people about birds of prey. He is already completely in love with his owner (a bird of prey expert) and his owner with him. Wonderful to see.
