how do i come to terms?

My aunt died 3 weeks ago of a pulmonary embolism, she was in her early fifties. She had been unwell for a few months, with a persistant cough and breathlessness. and was being treated for asthma, (which she didnt have)! But the thing i cant get out of my head is that on that friday night that she took bad, her hubby rang for the doctor, but was then told, "she.s not ninety, bring her to the surgery on tuesday" consequently she died, that friday evening? im so upset and angry, surely this coud have been detected and treat with warferin or some other clot busting drug?

GP's generally don't come out these days, unless the patients are very young or very old. The surgery should probably have advised your late Aunt's husband, that he should take her to A&E.

If you feel things have been dealt with badly, then perhaps you should make a complaint to the surgery.

I'm no expert but i guess it depends upon where the clot was as to whetther immediate treatment would have made any immediate difference. My mum was lucky, the warferin worked for her, her's was caught quickly.

im so sorry cuz my dad has been detected with cancer this should of been picked up in february its now june 2008 so 5 months ago he should of known and i really dont know what to say to you except a mate of mine had pnuemonia and phoned the local health centre they diagnosed him as a pulled muscle so always go to the hospital im sad your aunt died i understand your anger i hope im helping you
