Could 12/14 across be
Andy Baddeley ?
That is an anagram of any deed badly.
Still thinking about 9d
If 9 down is two words it could be DREAM MILE, which Andy Baddeley won and is held in Oslo. (I think...not a great sports person )
You would be better posting this in Quizzes and Puzzles or Crossowrds, by the way...
Yeas it is Andy Braddeley.

Andy Baddeley won the 'Dream Mile' in Oslo on 9th June 2008

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/insport/jun e08/andybaddeleyrevivesbritishhopes.htm

so 9d is DREAMMILE
Is dreammile one word, then , gen2 ?
Only problem is though that it says he did so in 3:49:38
I think we could let that go...one hundredth of a second ?
OOps , a whole tenth of a second, maybe we can't
I only know what it says in the article and it is two words there but the wordplay of the clue fits it

imagine = DREAM
me = ME
the Italian = IL

so dream with il inside me = dreammile
Agree that it is right, don't think the compiler is up to much if he thinks it is two words.
:-)
I wonder why this finished up in Adverts
You've got me, there.
The poster doesn't seem to have checked it either...after all our brain power too... :-)
