Hello everyone.  I currently work in sales for an IT company.  Whilst I like my job, I feel as if life is passing me by and I would like to do something a little more exciting.  I am going to apply for a cabin crew job at Monarch.  There are two questions on the application that I would appreciate your help with: 1.Please give a brief description of any experience that you feel is beneficial to this application. 2. State your reason for applying and why you feel you are suited to the position of cabin crew.

I am not in cabin crew myself, but I would guess that the main qualities would be the ability to communicate with all people in a polite and pleasant manner, and to keep calm in a crisis.  I typed 'qualities of cabin crew' in google and it came up with this amongst others.... Good luck.

I've included two links for you that can give you some information on your objective. Granted, these are references primarily for US based carriers, but the rules, training and requirements tend to similar for UK based carriers. I've been an air carrier pilot for all my adult life (now with the FAA) and have noted that some do well as flight attendants (as they are called in the US) and others don't.  The training can be difficult, since you will be operating in an environment that is totally unfamiliar.  This extends to learning a different technical "language" with all the abbreviations and jargon. The hours required can also be daunting, with no regard for weekends or late nights, and many 12 to 14 hour days.  There will be rewards as well... but it's best to do some research before beginning the journey. We used to call them stewardesses (stewardii for more than one, or honey on occasion) but that is deffinitely passe'.  At any rate, good luck and cielo azul!

The mention of the phrase "trolley dolly" at the interview would almost certainly be a bad move.

Try for RAF cabin aircrew.  The places you visit are far more interesting than civillian airlines.  You can be crew on an airline jet, like civillians, or on a combat cargo plane if you're really bored.
