hair damage
12 Answers
Can anyone out there help me with some advice re hair damage? My hair dryer overheated - although I was not aware of this at the time. After a few days I realised what was wrong and now have heat damaged hair.
I have been told I will have to wait until I grow the damage out, but think I have read that skin moisturiser soaked into the hair does help.
Does anyone have any advice that will help please.
My hair was in great condition until a few days ago !!

Leave in on under a turbitowel or some cling film somewhere warm like in the bath.
You could try a VO5 hot oil treatment and get a dry and damaged hair shampoo (Elvive are good).

Try this home recipe for damaged hair :
1 cup aloe vera gel.
4 tbs. apple cider vinegar.
1 tbs. nettle tincture.
1/2 tsp. vitamin E oil.
1/2 tsp. rosemary essential oil.
Mix ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Apply a small amount on the scalp once a day.

Your local hairdresser will sell you a ph balanced professional conditioner (Ask for Loreals Aloe Vera for coloured hair) its green in colour and the creamiest available. Apply after shampooing, 3 good handfuls, and run fingers, spreading the conditioner, from root to ends. Put a polythene cap or carrier bag over scalp and towel over top to warm scalp for at least 20mins. Rinse off and hair will be really soft. The singed hair will in time snap off but conditioner will strengthen it till then.
this is going to sound saft, but the best thing to get ur hair soft and sleeky again is egg yoke. whisk it up and massage it in ur hair leave it for about 30 - 45 mins and wash of. ur hair might stink of egg for a few days but it will soon go if u get some decent shampoo and conditioner, if u dont want to use the egg plaster conditioner on dry hair and out a bag over and leave it for about 1 hr. and rinse
use a hot oil or intensive conditioning treatment 3 times a week and let your hair dry naturally for the time being. if you dont have a hot oil treatment for damaged hair olive oil is a good substitute. aussie swiss formula intensive conditioners are good. the main aim is to restore the moisture and natural oils that have been lost when your hair got frazzled. my sister frazzled my hair resulting in me refusing to go to work and i phoned a hairdresser friend in tears pleading with her to help. that is what she advised me to do. she also used her razor scissor thingys to get rid of the most badly damaged parts and as for my usual style/length you wouldnt even have noticed that she had cut anything off. she coloured my hair with a semi permanent colour almost identical to my own shade and believe it or not that improved the look to my almost normal appearance. because the colour was ammonia and peroxide free it wasnt causing any further damage to the condition of my hair
