My parents only do approx 5000 miles per year in their car. Are there insurance policies which offer a discounted rate for such low miles?
Thanks.
PS - They are based in Northern Ireland (which can often make a difference in the insurance/finance field)

this is a very vague answer but dont norwich union do a "pay as you go" policy? they put a sensor in your car i think
norwich union do a PAYG as bednobs so rightly said.

I looked into it for my MIL who only does 2000 miles a year and it didnt save her much. You pay per mile and the lower grade roads cost much more than motorways and A roads.
i have always only insured my car for 4000 miles, but we are trying to even the wear on our cars - not that either of us do that much, so i phoned and asked for it to be raised to 7000, but they said that it did not affect the premium at all and that our other car has no set mileage limit at all. I guess that in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't affect it that much, but I am sure that if you went over your recorded limit and were in an accident, they would not cover you.

Doesn't sound as if there is an option that is likely to save them much money.
