On West Derby Road there's a Church, thoughtfully sprayed on the wall for our perusal and digestion are the words "Tuebrook grasses", it then goes on that "Reece" and this is the telling bit "is the VICTIM".
Victim of what?
Surely (alledgedly) he's the perpetrator?
Unless the author suggests that the Church has borne false witness against him/her?
Shami Chakrabati decrys the idea of naming and shaming criminals, but they're not so shy when it comes to naming others.
I expect I'll read of a burnt down Church in Tuebrook soon....

Any chance of the same question, but in English?

Something about Liberty have sprayed the name of someone the church has said something about someone called Reece on the side of a church building..?
This'll be about the shooting of 11-year-old Rhys Jones in Liverpool. (Do I win a prize?)

My guess would be that 'Reece' is a misspelling of 'Rhys'.

So they'd be right to say he's the victim, given that he was shot dead.

So where does Liberty come in?

Was the guy arrested and charged named Reece?
This is beyond me, I don't understand the post at all!
This is a local post for local people!!!
The question wasn't very clear, granted.

But the story has been national news for about a year.

Can't be Rhys Jones as 123everton says

"Reece" and this is the telling bit "is the VICTIM".
Victim of what?
Surely (alledgedly) he's the perpetrator?

I can't see how Rhys Jones is the perpetrator
Question Author
It's got nothing to do with Rhys Jones as VIC said.
Someone from the Church (?) has informed the Police about somebody (Reece?) and his criminal actions, as a result "Tuebrook grasses" has been daubed on the side of the building, Reece is the unfortunate victim of being "grassed up" apparently.
It's not that they've sprayed a Church that bothers me (I hate all graffiti) but such and such is a grass is often to be seen painted on walls, the notion that he could be a "victim" for being told on is laughable.
Chakrabati etal dislike the naming and shaming of criminals, but they on the other hand are'nt shy about naming grasses etc.
Is that any clearer for you all?

"They" being criminals.
So your point is that Liberty should change their behavior until it is in line with that of moral degenerates and criminals..?

Weird.
Question Author
No that liberty should stand up for people who want to live freely rather than seek to defend those who wish to silence others with threats and intimidation.
"No that liberty should stand up for people who want to live freely"

It does.

"rather than seek to defend those who wish to silence others with threats and intimidation. "

It doesn't.The point about protecting civil liberties and human rights is that they must apply to everyone to be worth anything.
Question Author
Do you agree with the public naming of criminals or not and BTP is it possible to be a victim by being grassed up?
What does 'the public naming of criminals' mean?

Having tabloid newspapers print the names of peadophiles for the titilation of their readers, resulting in driving peadophiles underground and attacks on paediatricians and overall endangering children? No, I don't agree with it.

Reporting the details of criminals in the press at the point of conviction? Fine.

It's not possible to give a blanket response.

Is it possible to be a victim by being grassed up? Yes, if you're not guilty, obviously it is.

Do you not support due process or something? Do you think mob justice is the way forward? I can't believe you do.

You're creating a false dichotomy here.
Question Author
I agree with the blanket response reasoning, but thing like ASBOS name people (liberty opposes it) I support it.
You can't be grassed up for something you did'nt do, it's not grassing otherwise.
