Who lost his stratigraphical level?
Who lost his wife from the rear seat of a tandem?

Any pushes in the right direction would be appreciated.

Probably wrong, but the tandem one could be Michael (verse 2 of "Daisy, Daisy"):

Michael, Michael, here is your answer due.

I won't cycle, not for the likes of you.

If you can't afford a carriage,

Then blow your blooming marraige,

For I'll be damned if I'll be crammed

On a bicycle made for two.

The second one is Harris, one of the characters in Three Men on the Bummer by Jerome K Jermone. His wife falls off while cycling through Germany and Harris pushes on regardless.
Three Men on the Bummel, that'd be: sort of means roaming around, I think, maybe related to the American word bum meaning hobo.
