I have some bamboo canes which i have had in a vase for a couple of years. They have good roots, can these be planted into the ground.

Yes they can.....plant them in shade, water well (0ften, no drying out) and cover soil around base of plant s with stones or such to shade from sun, (keeps soil moist).
Bamboo, like fig trees & mint can be a hooligan once let loose in the soil.
As Brooksy say`s ,but try to contain the root spread bye encircling them with a bottomless bin or similar.
