what do you look for?

What do you look for in your librarian? I am applying for a job as an assistant in a library and wondered if anyone had any burning opinions that would like to express!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes, that's the trouble these days. Libraries are wonderful places, but the internet's put-paid to many people using them now. You can't beat a good book - and even just using the reference part helped you to learn, and remember, whereas it's too easy to just use a computer now.
I hope you get the job greenbean. I think you need to be friendly, efficient, and helpful.

I would like librarians to refrain from asking "What do you need it for?" when they can't give me that which I originally asked for. It's none of their business what I need it for. I suspect they ask in the hope of getting clues that will allow them to suggest something else - something similar - which may also be of use to me, so yes I do understand their wish to be of help. But I don't like the question (and I get it all the time!) Ask instead something like "Do you want me to try to find something similar for you?" and you will probably get all the clues you need when the customer starts asking herself what "something similar" would be.
BTW I'm grumpy :-)
Good luck greenbean!
