Will an aquarium fish survive in a pond?

Back to the canibalistic blue fantail again! 3 months down the line and the same fish is now a GOOD 2.5" long and today looks like it has swallowed a football. It is suspected of eating 7 beatiful Golden / White; Cloud Minnows in just 5 days! Would it survive in my Dads pond? I don't want to euthanize it but by the same token I want the next fish I buy to have a chance at staying alive!
So could I; in good conscience, transfer it to the pond ?

Put it in a small bucket or plastic container not less than one gallon. Half fill it with the water from the tank and put the fish in. Then float the bucket in the pond and add one cup of pond water to the bucket, repeat adding a cup of pond water every haft hour until the bucket sinks under water and the fish can swim out. This will prevent any water/temp shock.

Make sure the bucket/container is not in direct sun or you'll fry the fish.

Providing goldfish have acclimatised to the pond during the warmer weather yes, they will eat nearly nothing during the winter and can stand very cold water, even with ice on top.

Thanks Wildwood, I am currently re thinking my position! I can't bear to give away such a lovely fish, might just not buy anything small enugh for it to eat!

What about the temp though? Aquriaum fish have a filter and heater, tropical Im think along the lines of, would they survive in a pond??

It's a cold water fish tank so it may not be a problem! As long as the fish goes deep during our now milder winters!
