A advertising campaign for slimming aid "Formaline L112" has been launched and the product promises to prevent fat from being absorbed. The main ingredient being derived from shellfish.

Has anyone tried this product and if so, what have been the results, if any?

It is Formoline. Formaline is something completely different that is used to preserve dead bodies.

Formoline is made from crushed crabshells - nothing new there. There is nothing there that will do harm. If you look at their website it says:

Successful weight loss requires restricted calorie intake combined with increased physical activity.

So, restrict your calories and increase your physical activity and you WILL lose weight. Taking these tablets simply helps you lose pounds from your purse.

Thanks Ethel, as a personal Trainer, I know what exercise and food I should be consuming, just saw the adverts and took an interest. There isn't much info on the packaging.
There is plenty of info on the website.

As you are a personal trainer I am surprised that such gimmicky things attracted your attention.

Remember, the government is very concerned about obesity at the moment. If there were a cheap, guaranteed solution it would be prescribed on the NHS

Yes there are products which do work and supplied by the NHS, like Reductil and Xenical, but obviously they have side effects. They tend only to be supplied to people with a BMI of over 30.
Yes, all the others don't work at all.
i bought these, but returned them to boots because they only stop you absorbing fat from certain foods (red meat, butter and a few more) none of which i ate anyways!
