Plumbing - water bubbling up into shower

I have suddenly developed a problem in my shower room when toilet is flushed water is bubbling up in the shower Also there is a lot of bubbling up of water to the shower when it is not being used I can hear it when I am down stairs. I live in a semi next door have had a conservatory built over drain a few weeks ago could this have created the problem or is it a coinsidence

Sounds like a partial blockage of the main drain,you will need to lift a manhole cover to confirm.If it is and not too major,you may be able to clear it with a hosepipe pushhed into the pipe.

Thanks ianmunt you could be right but that raises another problem it is under their new conservatory in their garden and they dont speak to me so they may refuse my request to clear the drain aaahhhhh

see if you can find access on your own property,if not try to get them to be reasonable.If all friendly approaches fail you might reluctantly have to involve your local authority.

I would tend to agree with ianmunt�s analysis of your problem � a few other things to bear in mind:-

Depending on where the blockage within the sewer is, your neighbour may be experiencing the same issues. Besides your toilet & shower, all other drain points within your property may be effected � possibly resulting in effluent emerging from your sinks or other plumbed in appliances.

My property suffered a similar problem, which was due to Leylandii roots breaching sewer pipes, causing the blockage.

I would not like to be in your neighbour�s conservatory when the inspection cover is lifted.

Thank you for all your answers I have had the drain looked at and it seems the problem is coming from the drain underneath next doors new conservatory it must be cracked or something hence I have lots of sewage now backing up and flowing out of my drain - pooooh

Thanks for all your answers have now found out what has happened spoke to neighbour it seems they have moved the drain hence the problem
