I have custom for 5a. However, 5d would then go c?n?u and I cannot find anything to fit in.

11a - I have Slieverue but it can also be spelt with Slieveroe. This would then leave 5d c?n?o - will let you know if I come up with anything.

The answer to 5 down is "Canto". This is one of the main divisions of a large poem. The "C" is for Cuba followed by "NATO", when organised gives you,"ANTO". Thus one gets "Canto"

Thanks for pointing out that Slieverue can take an"O" instead of "U". Otherwise I would still be struggling !
