Is it true that shaving your legs makes the hair grow more? If so, does waxing or using creams have the same effect?

If that's true then wax will make a difference as it doesn't give hair the pointy edge. Also, years of waxing will eventually make it go away all together as you're ripping out the root.
I don't use creams so wouldn't know.

The notion that cutting hair makes it grow either quicker, or thicker, is a myth.
Hair that is at any point outside its root is dead, so cutting it cannot affect its growth, since it isn't growing at the point of cutting / shaving anyway.
What does happen, as my esteemed colleage Ms. Doll points out, is that the shape of the hair end changes, and appears to be sharper or thicker, which are both matters of perception rather than fact.
I don;t know if constantly waxing, and therefore removing the hair and root will eventually kill the folicle, but I can say with confidence that shaving does not affect the hair.
Thank you ladies, for all you do to make yourselves gorgeous, it is greatly appreciated by those of secondary importance in the process - men!

as a beautician - the shaving of the hair cuts it at a blunt angle which makes it feel thciker and stubbly when it grows back. if you wax/pluck you pull the hair out of the follice, meaning it grows back in a pointed natural state. also, waxing can slow the hair growth after it has been done a number of times

I remember a friend's wife once telling me the sad / hysterically funny saga of her upper lip hair. It seems that she noticed one or two darker hair whilst she was inspecting herself with the usual mirror. She plucked them out. They then grew back with venom and brought a couple of friends to the party. With hindsight she says they weren't actually that bad but she got fussy. Time went on, with more and more gatecrashers arriving weekly. She shaved, due (according to her) to a 'last minute emergency' after receiving an invite before she'd had time to pluck. The whole lip got hairy. She woke the next morning, or afternoon, screamed after looking in the mirror and booked in for electrolysis. She's never looked back.
Lessons - don't shave. Ever. Beware not to pluck hairs that don't need plucking. Bleach if you don't have that bad a problem.
