Celt is term established during the 18th century to refer to prehistoric people living in the north of europe. Gael are a tribe or branch within the celts which has come to mean people speaking gealic (i.e.scots,welsh, irish, cornish and bretons). The picts and scots were smaller divisions of gaels these two being much more localised scots coming from the ancient area of dalriada, picts from nearer what is now the border region.
