classical goes pop (or the other way round...!)

What were the names of the compilation albums that were mainly rock tunes (i think) that had been recorded by an orchestra?
Also, is there an album that is the other way round, i.e. classical tunes recorded with a fresh feel to them? eg malcolm mclaren did the Blue Danube with a hint of drum n bass.
i'm sure Kubricks Space Odyssey got a makeover but unable to locate on the net...
