Just been reading "HIs Dark Materials" again. Plot is something about innocence being needed to save the Earth, and did we know that God and the Devil were locked in combat for our souls etc, etc, etc. (Someone else will describe it better!) I haven't read "Our Mutual Friend" but would be surprised if the plot lines were similar.
