Is it illegal for a letting agency to request a registration fee before advising on, and allowing viewing of, available accommodation?

Brill Ethel. Exactly what I remember reading before but couldn't find.

All I have to do now is convince my son before he parts with �60....

Try using a private landlord instead of going through agents. Agents will always charge a fee at some stage whilst most private landlords wont.
