Really struggling with this one. The letters I have for the name are BL??C???RM Blanche? Also cannot find anything for 14a. ALP?STO, I realise that one of these may not be true, but even taking that into account, can find nothing that may fit. Any help would be well recieved.

28d is not pelt - think of another word akin to rain for the outside letters.

Thanks pj, as you can see from the hour of posting, I am still a busy litle bee, my Bradfords is about thumbed to bits and I have exhausted all the on line thesauruses. Rain as in wet stuff or gift? Deluge? For 17a I have T?MED is this correct? and for 33a I have AUNTY.
Help, in 5 hours time the Saturday Times will plop through the letterbox, and if I can get to it before the labradoodlle does, there is another two to tackle,
