It was also a minor hit for the guy who wrote it called coincidentally...Mick Jackson (no relation) hence the frequent confusion.

The answer you're looking for is "The Jacksons" - not "The Jackson 5".
I'm reading this straight out of issue 19 of "British Hit Singles & Albums" ......
The Jackson 5 consisted of Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. Randy joined in 1977, so the Jackson 5 became the Jacksons.
Blame it on the Boogie peaked at number 8 in 1978.

Dr Wu is also correct - this song was also a hit for Mick Jackson, reaching number 15, also in 1978.
