crushed vertebrae

My friend had a fall last weekend and has been told she has a crushed vertebrae at waist level. She is in alot of pain but has been told to keep on taking pain killers. They have not xrayed - any advice anyone?

Tell her to insist on getting an x-ray or an MRI scan. It's very important. I had an injury, and now have permanent nerve damage to my spine caused simply by a failure by the medical profession to properly diagnose the problem, and treat it appropriately.

"curiouser and curiouser" cried Alice. The are just assuming the vertebrae is "crushed" as without an Xray or MRI scan then the diagnosis will always be hypothetical.
