Morning John. I gave up over 4 years ago, so it aint made any difference to me, and I dont think it has made any difference to the smokers at our work. They just take a 100m trek up the road to smoke their cancer sticks.

I stopped in April 1999, so like you I've not been affected, however I do know someone who stopped just before the ban took effect and is still smoke free
Didn't have much choice really did they.
But good for them.
I can't begin to understand how hard it must be to stop.
I have a great deal of respect for those that can and stay off. I see the struggle my daughter has and even with the ban she still can't.
So well done both of you.
I didnt take any patches or anything, it was pure cold turkey, after having smoked for 14 yrs. IT was very hard, but the best thing I ever did.
I've never been a smoker so can't imagine how hard it is to give up. But I do think it's something that you have to want!

My gramps was a heavy smoker and when my cousin was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 6 years old, he threw them in the bin and stopped right there and then! Didn't look back!

Maybe something has to click in you head???
I have NEVER smoked, but back in the 1970's the chancellor increased the price of a packet of 20 to the princely sum of 50p, when my mother heard this she said to my father, thats it Im giving up and from that day until 2006 when she passed away she never ever smoked again. There was nothing to help her like there is today (things like nicotine patched etc) it was just sheer will power.

I think she did really well considering my father carried on smoking his cigars.

Apparently my father in law did much the same thing as ur grandfather andrea. He was told at 36 when he had a stroke that if he didn't give up he would die with 6 months,he stopped right there and then and never smoked again.
I think it is down to really wanting to.
My son and daughter are both in rebelious moods at the moment and its anything to buck against the system.
I just hope they realise the mistake they are making before it's to late.
Yes/no/yes/no/yes/no..........
The smoking ban at work didnt stop me smoking completely but I havent had one single cig at work since it came in. I get a 15 min break and we have to go round the side of the building to the smoking shelter plus try to find a flash jacket cos you arent allowed there without one on. I have a choice of racing round like an idiot to have a quick fag or relaxing for 15 mins with a cup of tea and chatting, the cuppa wins every time :)
Nope made no difference to me.. but then again I work from home most the time so I can still smoke at work :)
no
