Christmas Presents

Hi,
Does anyone have any good ideas of what to get my parents for Christmas? My mum is in her 60s, still works, is not into wearing makeup or perfume, likes country & western music.....my dad is in his 60s also, but retired,and likes gardening and country & western music too.Very grateful for any thoughts.

Do they like books? I've been into Borders and Waterstones in the last couple of days and there are lots of sort of 'dipping' books - not novels, but the sort you can just open where ever and have a little read. I also saw a beautiful bronze vase with a dragonfly on in Past Times which was reduced by 40 per cent - I'm still debating on whether to get it for my sister-in-law.

a gift voucher for a local restaurant for them to go out for a meal? Not sure where you are based but here in Scotland they have 'The National Trust for Scotland' you can get them membership and they can get discounts on days out and free parking at those places. Also another thing I did as part of my dads birthday one year as he is a keen gardener I got him a membership for a local garden centre. Not only does he get a discount for any purchase but they also get free coffee and a scone for 2 once a month. I know some people dont think much thoughts go into vouchers but my mum in particular loves nothing more than wandering the shops and picking new things for herself - she is a pensioner now so not much spare money.

Don't know what your budget is like but how about get them each Ipods and put some country music on for them.

Well it is always hard to suggest for people you have never met even though you have given a good idea of what theyre into so I'll just let you know what Im getting mine.
My mum has asked for a brown handbag..... not as simple as it sounds though, finding it hard to get one thats brown and in the style she likes!
My dad has got very bad eyesight so Im getting him and audio book of Ewan and Charlies Long Way Round.

I'm 60 and my daughter bought me a voucher for a beauty treatment body massage and a facial it was beautiful and something I would never have dreamed of doing or paying for my self, for her dad she paid for him to go to a race meeting at silverstone

A digital photo frame, beforehand buy a memeory card stick it in a camera then hand it about your family so its full for them. thats what ive done. K.
