I've been prescribed an antibiotic Doxycycline to take as an anti malarial drug while is South East Asia, Apparently its only recently been prescribed for this purpose - has anyone heard of it and is it good.

It can cause heartburn if not washed down with lots of water, and, as it is an antibiotic, it may cause diarrhoea and/or thrush in susceptible people.
