A hundred degrees is hot by anyone's standards, but I've been in hotter. It was stifling when I was in the Gambia, and one year when I was in Turkey, they'd had a heat wave, and tourists were passing out like nine pins. Oddly enough, that same day, a turkish man walked past...wearing an anorak!!!!!
rabbs when i stayed in new york in september 2005

You got on a train that was bearable???....how did you manage that????
i can't even imagine what it must've been like on the underground - and yet you'd expect it to be cooler, out of the sunlight wouldn't you?
theres no aircon in the subway its like an oven
the subway cars have aircon and are lovely and cool.buy a metro ticket for the week itsa bargain
An experience I think I'll pass on.

The heat in Death Valley was amazing. Like standing in front of the oven with the door open!

120 and we liked it. Dry heat, obviously, but you couldn't charge about.....

what month did you go rabs??
I bet you scarcely breathe, rabs. tell you what though - I bet you could get a suntan if you stayed out in for 5 minutes! Or maybe not......did it burn you?
We were there in Sept 78 pasta. A good holiday before starting a family. In the middle of the desert is a place called Scotty's Castle, an eccentrics house, now tourist fodder.

Running thru it was a stream which we all sat by and just enjoyed the experience..

Tanned during the hol but didn't stay in full sun too much icey. The air temperature was what we remember tho. You dont want to get stuck out there on your own without water either.
Not much chance of that, rabbity. I don't like hot places very much, but I bet it was a great experience.
Oh did I miss out on a thunder storm again pasta ?
Hi Ice honey , I didn't get to see you last night so just want to say hope each day gets less sore and you fell stronger soon :-) xxx
The only thing rumbling here is my tummy.

Happily, I have some left over Chinese takeaway from last night.

But it never looks quite so appealing the next day.

Ah well, it looks like a bowl of krispies.

(I don't mean that the left over Chinese looks like a bowl of krispies)
