I am considering paying 29.95 for 12months sub to Travel Offers for a Privilege Hotel Pass this gives me free accommodation but I have to pay for breakfast and dinner.Has anyone experience of this or similar schemes?
When I've looked it the costs of meals have seemed inflated to make up for the free room. Do your own sums, but I came to the conclusion it wasn't for me.
I have just consulted a friend in the Hotel business.
He advises me (as per dzug's answer) to avoid these schemes.
You end up paying over the odds(and more than standard guest rates) for Breakfast and Dinner(obligatory),and so in the end the "free" room isn't really free at all!
Much better to either shop around for a room,or try and negotiate with the hotel for a better deal.
Given the ease of doing so on the net, these "Privilege" passes cease to have any real worth.
I think the other problem is that most hotels will put a "limit" on accepting bookings using these types of cards, maybe no more than 2 bookings a day or whatever.
So the chances are if you phone up to try to book a room the allocation of rooms to this deal will have gone.
I often get letters offering me Hilton deals (used them in the past), but when I phone a hotel the often say "sorry, no more rooms left at that rate".
