New Computer
3 Answers
I presently use a 15 inch laptop (Sony VA10), but would like to update to a larger screen for use in the home. I mainly use my computer for playing cards online, any ideas of the best setup for me. Someone said Apple were good, i.e. the all inone system with 20 inch screen, or would I be better sticking with Microsoft. Many thanks. Riptide.

You'll have less troubles and upkeep with a mac than a Windows machine (in fact, with any machine apart from one running Windows).
But it will take a few weeks of use to adjust.
But in truth, it may be overkill if you just check email, browse websites and play cards. You'll get a cheaper machine by just buying a cheap system and getting a decent 20" monitor (130 range).

They're no more expensive for same-spec machine. Without even considering that they're easier to use and safer to use than a Windows machine.
The issue is that you may not require the specs that most Apple machines have. So, a cheaper other brand would suffice.
Cheapest iMac is about 700 with student discount (something like 900 without I think).
But you can get a good machine and display for ~400 that does everything you'll want; quite a saving.
