Easyjet Hold Bag Allowance
8 Answers
Please someone explain this to us. We are 2 adults travelling with Easyjet and we purchased 1 suitcase each but this is what our ticket says about our allowance:
The 2 passenger(s) in this booking may check in a combined total of 2 hold bag(s) for each flight on this booking. The total hold weight must not exceed 32 kg.
Why is the total hold weight 32kg when the allowance should be 20kg per passenger? Surely the total hold weight should be 40kg!

32Kg is mentioned on the page a few times, but it seem more related to people who are carrying large items like surf boards and so on.

Since this is at odds with the policy statement provided at the website above, you will probably have to ask EasyJet. This is easier said than done - you will probably have to use email to contact them.
Take a copy of the webpage policy to the airport with you to help with an 'discussion' on the matter at check-in.

32kg is the total weight allowed for one item. You get an allowance of 20kg per person but if your bag weighs more than this they will charge 5 per kilo over the 20kg and up to a maximum of 32kg.
So total hold weight for two people is 64kg but you only get 40kg included in the booking price spread over 2 bags.

Whilst on this subject, are all airlines jumping on the green tax bandwagon and charging a fortune for extra luggage. Does hold weight affect emissions in a different way to cabin weight? If not can lighter people take more luggage without being charged? It doesn't make sense to charge someone who is 6 stone the same as someone who is 12 stone, etc. Ryanair seem to be especially guilty of this as their weight allowance is only 15kg (just about enough for a week!).
