releet
What is a releet? I have been trying to find out for a long time. I know it is a military term. There is a place in rural Suffolk called 3 releet but I am more familiar with the site of Braintree Hockey Club being called 4 releet.

Derived from the Old English gelǽte (meeting) a leet was a place of meeting and from this an eleet became a point where two roads met.
A releet is where three roads meet (three-releet would originally have been needless repetition) and a four-releet is what we more commonly know as a crossroads i.e a point from which you can travel in four directions.
