I have Windows XP (SP2) installed on my system, I am trying to install an application but getting an error message :

Installation Aborted Setup was not completed successfully.

ERROR : Cannot set directory permissions
(make sure you have administrator permissions)

This error I never encountered in the past while installing any application.

Kindly suggest some useful tips to get rid of the same.

Best Regards,

SONIA.

I'll get the obvious one out of the way....

you are logged in with an user account that has administrative permissions aren't you???

if not log out and beck in as with a different account that's an administrator and try again.

Dear ChuckFickens,

Dear ChuckFickens,

Thanks for your kind response, I am really obliged.

In my case, this is not the problem. I have only 1 user account and no password for this. As far as Administrator rights are concerned, I got privilege for the same and is Allowed.

Before submitting my request to the Answerbank, I checked all the relevant problems, and required parameters are set to Allowed.

Thanks for the kind response.

Best wishes.. SONIA
