i am an ultimate force fan (and apart from that woman sas person who is ruining it for me) i wondered ,from a military point of view,just how accurate and realistic it is.

Its accurate in that they're in the Army, although nowadays anyone can apply to join the SAS.  But that's about as far as the accuracy goes.  Its one of those shows that real people actually in the UKSF (United Kingdom Special Forces) watch and laugh at a lot.

I enjoyed it although I don't think that it's probably that realistic, read the books by people like Chris Ryan and Andy McNab if you don't already.

 

Also, just a niggly thing that ruined the show for me was when Ross Kemp said "A little less conversation".  What a prat.  Other than that I liked it :o)

I would agree that its accurate in that they are in the army.  In one of the last episodes the SAS were used in an operation that involved a boat.  This would not be where the SAS would be used, and it would be an SBS (Special Boat Service) operation in this instance so its far from reality. Certain people would call it "Ultimate Farce"

I think the whole thing is class.. As for pearty dissing it, if he knows anything abou the British Special Forces, he would realise that the SAS have numerous troops within their squadrans. Mountain troop being one of them, oh, and Boat troop. What do you think they would need a boat troop for if they never used, RIB's OR CANOE'S. Or is that me being silly.

Yes its not accurate, i mean last week alone the shotgun garvey used is only a 12 gauge, they made out it was a grenade launcher(they could have just used the real grenade launcher) the actual troop movement and fire team action is watched over by chris ryan and some other ex SAS guys(usually when they are masked up)  Its about as realistic as a TV will get(not very much)

as for the SAS never use boats, what a pile of crap. The SBS and the SAS do most of the same training, they then speacialise in either mountain,halo or vehicle or anti terrorism in the SAS and underwater dems and movement in the SBS. However when you see the SAS on the TV the chances are that some of the guys are SBS as well as they work together alot on missions.

 

Oh and you cant " just join " the SAS you have to be a regular soldier for 3-5 years then you have to do pre selection then you do a beat up course and then if you are successful then you do selection.
