Recording TV progs on a Panasonic DVD recorder
4 Answers
We have a panasonic DVD recorder, model DMR EX77EB - does anyone know if you can set up advance recordings of TV programmes by using the dedicated numbers which appear alongside them in the TV guides? We always used to set up recording this way with the VCR but this recorder doesn't appear to accept them and can't find anything about it in the manual.

I am assuming there must be a reason.
I have a Panasonic dvd recorder - a different model to yours. I can record in three ways - instant record by pressing the record button; timed recordings using the Electronic Programme Guide; manual by pressic 'record mode' and setting the channel and recording times myself.
I cannot use Video+ on my recorder, but yours may be different. I suspect not if it is not mentioned in the manual.

Thanks for the prompt answer - my husband says that the timings seem to be a minute or two out whenever he records anything - tho' he's checked that the clock is correctly set, programmes often start a minute or two early and end early which can be quite annoying! He thought the video plus might be more precise. I very rarely watch TV myself so it's not a priority for me but he has moaned about it once or twice and I thought I would try to surprise him by finding the solution! Guess there must be a reason why it does this, so he'll have to keep trying.
If you delve in to the set up using the buttons on the remote control you will be able to set the recorder to automatically add a few minutes to the end of each recording - check your manual.
But of course this is useless if his programme ends and the next one starts on another channel. But once you know how to do it, you could turn the function on and off when it suits.
I do know exactly what your husband means - if there is a programme that I absolutely must be sure of seeing the end of, I put the following programme on to record too, if I can't be bothered to adjust the timings.

I'll pass the suggestions on to him - actually, that's a great idea to set it to carry straight on with the next programme - I'm sure he hasn't thought of that - do I offer it as my own idea and take the credit or tell him the truth?? Anyway, thanks a lot for your help, I will tell him what you have suggested, I really am grateful that you have taken the time and trouble to help.
